for our annual summer meeting, picnic, and tour of the lily beds at Close
Park. The lily beds are a wonderful addition to the demonstration beds
at Close Park. Members plant and weed beds regularly to promote

present the North American Lily Society (NALS) program for Training and
Accreditation of Lily Judges. There will be three separate classes in
Springfield for anyone interested in lilies and who wishes to learn more
about them. The first class will be held Sunday, November 4, 2007 at

June 24, 2007: The Ozark Regional Lily Society
displayed lily stems and design entries at the annual Lily Show on June 23,
2007. There were 42 stems and 17 designs entered for judging and
public display. Calvin Helsley swept the show with Best Seedling, OT
Hybrid, Species, Asiatic, Trumpet, and LA Hybrid. His Asiatic, Eros,
took Best in Show honors. Congratulations to Calvin for beautiful
entries! Design honors went to Ruth McMillion who won 3 Blue Ribbons
to take Sweepstake honors in Design. Congratulations to Ruth!
The Lily Show was held at the Library Center and was well attended by the
public, including many young people who expressed interest in our Lily
stems. We hope discussing Lily propagation with young adults will
stimulate interest in our regional society and promote lily growers for the
future.
April 29, 2007: After a warm March our gardens were
devastated with a severe freeze in April. Many plants, including
Lilies,
were damaged by temperatures falling as low at 18 degrees. Our gardens
are returning slowly to normal, however, many plants may not bloom this
year. Our regular Lily show is scheduled for Saturday, June 23, 2007,
10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell. The Lily
show is open to the public with Lily stems and arrangements on display. Lily
Society members are excited about sharing their interest in growing Lilies
with the public.
